Day 8
3 Girls and 4 suitcases
And the lease is signed. Got our keys and we're all set to move in over the next couple of days. Bit of a shock thinking that I'll have to mow the wee bit lawn but this year is all about remembering that I am able to do anything I put my mind to-right?
Each time I step into the house, I love it more. That's got to be a good sign I think.
Vera, our landlady, is so lovely. She picked the girls and I up from Ikea to go back to 921 to sign the lease. We had spent 4 hrs in the place and bought a few essentials. We got mattress protectors (no mattresses) and duvets and pillows and linen (no beds) and a few bits and bobs for the kitchen. The bed-thing will hopefully happen over the next couple of days. A contact through one of Andrews friends (did I write this already) has offered assistance with moving stuff and so I am going to call them tomorrow to see if they can help with bed pick-up before Sat night when we will be bedless and moved from here.
We will also be wifi-less so I will be more silent but I will make a point of writing a blog. It may become a daytime post, rather than a night-time one but that'll be okay. There are a few coffee shops near home that I will frequent to use their wifi...........or Ikea.
I managed to get our utilities set up today so we should be cooking on the gas, when we move in. Tomorrow there is a heat alert so not the best day for Jen and I to lugg our luggage up there but we'll cope. May make an early start to it and hope to beat the heat.
I was thinking today that I've discovered a new diet. It's called the move to Etobicoke diet and I am sure that I have lost several pounds in the last week being on it. Between giving up milk in my coffee (for the most part 'cause I like 'real' coffee black) drinking no wine for the last 9 days and not eating much in general and nothing between meals I feel my clothes looser and my chins decreasing in number.
It's definitely very different from being on holiday here. When you all see me next summer (Edinburgers) I may be very petite......or not)
Ali had a good day at school today and after telling a classmate that she was hopeless at Maths, she ended up helping her. First time ever that she's helped someone with maths, she tells me. One benefit of your mother applying for the wrong grade for you at school could be that you can revise all the stuff you learned last year and appear far smarter than everyone else?-lol.
She's also made some friends (no surprise to anyone else but her) and is off shopping tomorrow with one of them........she'll be asking for my credit card before I know it.
Oops, got distracted by FB there. Never ceases to amaze me that I can go to do one thing and several minutes (sometimes hours) have passed me by before I remember what I went to do. And that's with all my mindfulness.......imagine that I'd be hospitalized by now, for not being able to stay on track for more than a minute, without my daily meditation.
Signed up for an online care-giving site today so will see what happens there. Felt right and I'm hoping for a newborn to want me to help his mummy for a wee whiley.
And on that note-to bed. Girls are both asleep so I ought to turn out the lights. Feeling a bit peckish now that my chicken caeser salad in Ikea at 4pm has worn off. Mmmmm.....do I have any food?
Much love,
Lxx
