Day 6
3 Girls and 4 Suitcases
Well, here we are at the end of another day full of all sorts of things.
First thing to report is that I slept very well last night and was so glad to see 6.40am on the clock and be still in bed. It's a wee bit more difficult in this hotel room as I can't get up and go into a separate space to meditate and coffee but it's only till Saturday. Then I will have lots of space..........and nothing to sit on.
Alison got dropped off to school for her induction and Miss Independant decided that she'd make her own way 'home' which was just as well because Jen and I took forever to get up to our former place of residence to liberate our very big piece of left-luggage and back again.
Halfway back, we were surrounded in the bus station by what felt like hundreds of schoolkids who were both coming and going from their school, which is just up the street from Alis. Fortunately, by the time our bus arrived, most of them were gone and we did get standing room till the ones that were on our bus got off.
We had rain and a fair bit of it in the afternoon but it's warm, very warm and you really don't mind the wet. We had a wee trip to the grocery store where, yet again, they refused credit card and I had to pay cash. This store was huge, as well so not sure what their problem is but I will have to be asking them before I shop in future or my dollars will disappear all too quickly.
We are living on pasta 'cause it's the easiest thing to cook and we only have 1 pot. Actually, the girls pretty much live on pasta most of the time anyway, so nothing new there.
What else?
Oh, I took the girls to see the house and they love it. We wandered around the area and it was really nice. Has the essential Tim Hortons and Starbucks and also lots of nice wee shops and eateries. Will have to locate the closest big grocery store though. I know where Costco is and the Vera, who's renting us the house, offered to take us to Ikea for wee bits and bobs. She can't manage beds or big things but the kitchen/bath things will fit in her car.
There is a list of things that I need to get on to, including health insurance and utilities for the house, mobile phones and internet access.........one thing at a time.
There is a huge mall (the one we were looking for the other day) just 5 mins walk from here and it's open till 9pm on weekdays which was great tonight when Ali discovered that she needed a padlock for her school locker and a notepad. A quick walk there and back and a lucky visit to Shoppers drugmart and she was sorted.
She has made a friend already who's offered to meet her at school first thing and also invited her to have lunch with her and her friends. Great, me thinks although I was never worried about her settling in.
I discovered a place, round the corner from the new home which offers Reiki and so I will go in and chat with them about space and whether they'd like another pair of hands. There was another place in the opposite direction which offered reflexology so I will go chat to them also. Perhaps they'll have space for me to run some meditation classes-who knows.
Did I write in yesterdays blog that Jen and I are working all day tomorrow? We are going to be assembling masks for a show in the Toronto Film Festival from 9-5 which sounded okay. After getting the address of employment, today, The 3 hrs travel makes the rate of pay a bit lower. Ah well, we'll just have to nap on the train as we'll be en route by 7.20.
And on that note, I better get myself organised for bed. I still haven't gone to find the laundry room here in the hotel-maybe tomorrow.....or maybe not.
Lots of love to all,
Lxxxx
