Day 92.........a new me. 3 Girls and 4 Suitcases. Well, the scary thing that I was going to do today? It was a trip to the hairdressers, for the first time since arriving here. All you women out there will know how scary that can be, a new hairdresser. I have gotten much more relaxed about my hair as I've gotten older and less obsessed with the way I look. Let's face it, our eyesight diminishes for good reason.....it's so that we can't really see the old wrinkly person looking back at us from the mirror-lol. But wrinkles don't hurt.....and neither do new hairdos. My visit today would have been scary had I not sent some Reiki to it ahead of time and you all know how much I believe in 'everything happens for a reason' so, with that in mind I headed off downtown to meet my new colourist. I had answered an advert which said FREE highlights and was off to meet Manusha who, it turns out, was sitting her exam in the Aveda Hairdressing school downtown. Boy, what a place! It was like santas grotto in the movie Elf but with lots of little hairdressers instead of Elves, at their work stations. I had an absolute blast making up a screenplay in my head about a hairdressing school, with all the different characters that surrounded me. Manusha was lovely and eighteen years old. She was kind and attentive and not only did I get lowlights and my roots covered up but she gave me a hand massage and a shoulder/upper back massage whilst my colours were doing their thing and I got a head massage during shampooing. If it hadn't been for the balancing effect of the added three mugs of coffee, I would have floated home........three hours later. The school are doing a fundraiser for a Ugandan hairdressing school, on Sunday and Manusha is volunteering so I booked both Ali and I in for a haircut, from her. We really only need the ends trimmed so how wrong could it go. I think that I may have found my new hairdresser and whilst my hair is darker than I had planned, I really like it and so does Ali. Manusha says she'll call me when she has another exam....hopefully in the spring for some highlights, right? The Aveda products are lovely. My hands smelled really nice after the massage and my hair smells great too. I'll be able to leave it till Sunday for washing, when I get my cut and blow dry....Yippee. I had planned to take Ali to the bank to deposit her pay cheque but she was starting work early at three so I didn't make it back before she went. So we went after I got back from her parent interviews at six fifteen. The bank is open till seven on Thursdays and Fridays. The parent interviews were great as expected because did I tell you that she got a great report card? I had put a huge lasagne in the oven before I went down to the school and it was almost ready when we got back from the bank.....yum 'cause we were both very hungry. Alison has been told that she can work whatever extra hours she wants, in the daycare, over the Christmas holidays. She's very happy about it and is looking forward to spending her extra money. I haven't had any replies back about the couple of wee things I've applied for but on the plus side, I did get asked to do an email consult from the Uk-yippeee. It is writing and it is about Bach....perfect combination. Anyhooo. I am going to close by telling you that, apart from this blog, there has been no writing done today-oops. Looks like I'll have to hit the library on Saturday again. On the very big plus side, I saved a fortune today! Much love to all, Lxxxx
