Day 73........a big lapse in my mindfulness.....
3 Girls and 4 Suitcases.
.....happened not too long after giving Ali a bit of a lecture in mindfulness. I found an anti-hystamine on the kitchen counter that she had taken out of the packet and then forgotten to take and so I started on about how she needed to be telling herself a wee story, when she was doing things, so that she'd remember that she hadn't finished the task. She took it as she almost always does, with humour and backchat and then went off to meet a friend for a day of shopping.
Cut to me, making my breakfast after deciding to microwave the last egg in the box to have on some toast. Imagine my horror when I realised that I was cracking a raw egg on the kitchen counter.....to shell.
EEK-my brain had been on auto-pilot, thinking it was cracking a boiled egg and I did LOL when I noticed what was happening and how I had just given Ali a lecture about being more mindful. I'm still giggling to myself as I type this because luckily the eggshells here are far thicker and the egg was not all over the counter when I re-engaged with my awareness. There was just a wee bit egg-white on the counter and the rest of the egg made it into the microwave and subsequently onto my toast.
I went to visit baby Noah and his mom and spent a lovely 2 hours plus just chat, chat, chatting with Marie. She's lovely and like me at the moment, isn't having a huge amount of adult conversation. I remember the long days in the house, when Jennifer was born, whilst Bill was at work. I often would be up at my mums two or three times a week, just for the adult chat and support rather than sitting in the house by myself.
I would be much better at it now though, due to my ability to be in the present moment rather than wishing my days away like I sometimes did on hard early motherhood days.
I do love to chat about all the ins and outs of motherhood and marriage and Marie and I share lots of viewpoints so it makes for a great afternoon.
When I got home, Alison was already here and was a bit deflated that her shopping trip had yielded no purchases. Still, she was cheery enough and we had a lovely evening together. She made her now fantastic cannelonni and we watched a rom-com and then went downstairs to sort her clothes for taking to NYC on Wednesday.
Back upstairs for a couple of episodes of Once-Upon-a-Time before bed and that's Saturday, Folks.
I did contemplate just doing Sunday, now but have just made a pot of decaff and a toasted cinamon bagel with pb and jam so I have to go dispose of them.
Love to all,
Lxxx
