Day 82..........Monday again and everything is white.
3 Girls and 4 Suitcases.
Monday mornings are good around here. It's my one time of doing something for others on a regular basis, so that feels pretty good. We all might want to think about doing something that makes us feel good on a day that normally isn't a favourite. To be honest, I have always liked Mondays. I was a nurse for all those years with varied shift patterns and in the latter years, I worked nights on the weekend and a Monday meant that I had lots of time off ahead. I just had a flashback to my last working year of nursing (which technically wasn't nursing) and okay, I really didn't like Mondays for most of that year when I worked Mon-Fri in an environment which wasn't conducive to my mental health. It was however a necessary year, though because of all the lessons I learned.
Meanwhile, back to Toronto and I think I mentioned yesterday that it was white when I got up? It snowed pretty much all day but just wet small flakes which didn't add very much to the scenery. I know that this is simply a wee trial run for what is coming and today I believe is to be sub-zero. It felt like that last night when I did a last run to the grocery store to buy club soda, my drink of choice with sliced lime added. Because it comes in 2L bottles, I can't carry many at a time so I had already been down for groceries (Extra points for $30 spend, Bill) but decided that because I had a day pass (good value because of visit with Ross) that I'd do another run.
Actually, I walked down there due to my lack of exercise yesterday and I got the bus back. That's how I know that there are very crunchy, slippy bits that Ali will have to negotiate with today.
The sun is shining out there but it is not going to lull me into a t-shirt-lol. I felt the chill when Ali headed out.....Brrr.
Did I tell you that Ali had a fantastic time in NYC and I will try to post some of her pics including the one where she's flanked by two VERY tall friends. She only had one scary story which involved her forgetting that she could not cross the junction diagonally and almost being hit by a car-EEK. For a kid who's spent many vacations in North America and also been living here for close to 3 months.....I guess the excitement of being on her own in NYC made her brain a bit fuzzy on road rules.
Her weather was good and she said she preferred winter in NY rather than summer. I can see her point as it was pretty hot there in July.
Her gear is still lying on the floor......Mmm?
My visit with Ross was great. We looked at google maps and he told me all about the area of Florida that he loves. He'd like us to go there this winter....if only. It was easier to leave, this week because we walked him to the big tv lounge where he got settled with a coffee before I left. It may be the routine of the future.
I went straight down to the grocery store from his and was VERY hungry for my lunch when I got home. I have decided to be healthier in my eating so the pot of soup got made and I had a spinach salad for lunch-yum. I also bought myself some grapefruit juice (which I love and only have on hotel stays) so my 5 a day ought to be easy this coming week.
I made a (ready made) lasagne for dinner which was huge. It's the same make as the one I usually buy (I can't find white sauce to make my own-will have to look for recipe online) but it was on sale, making it only $2 more for double the size. I have invited Andrew over tonight to help eat the leftovers-lol.
He's invited me to the movies on Wednesday afternoon to see a movie he loved at the weekend. Must have been really good if he wants to see it again.
Okay-need to go get myself meditated, fed and out to the library and not necessarily in that order.
Love to all,
Lxxx
