Day 66.....very quiet and the heating was finally switched on.

Day 66.....very quiet and the heating was finally switched on.

3 Girls and 4 Suitcases.

No rugby on Saturdays till April/May so yesterday was a quiet day.....by choice. For both me and Alison. She spent some time on homework and decorating her room whilst I'm not sure how the hours escaped me. Neither of us left the house and so by the early evening we decided that we had been brave enough and we put the heating on. And boy, did it come on. The timer thingy and I need to have a serious conversation today because it was all a bit double-dutch (plus Ali was having to tell me what the tiny screen writing was saying, in the dusk light and dim light fixtures) It seems like you have to set the various times to say what temp you want it to run at. It's not a case of 'on for 2 hrs in the morning and off till 4pm' but a case of selecting temps for different times of the day and night and at what times you want the various temps to begin. Confused? You and me both but I will work it out.
Basically I think that I have to set a warmer temp for the times of day that we're home in the daytime and lower temps for the times we are out and asleep.
After 3 hours of heating last night, I switched the system off again because it had continued to heat us up to 63 degrees despite my telling it to stop at 60. For the first time in a few weeks, we both had red cheeks and were happy to pull off the blankets-not a good sign when you are trying to be economical, as we are. I'm hoping to get the temp so that we can still be wearing sweaters and snuggling under blankets but with warm hands and nonvisible breathing.....I will keep you informed but suffice to say, the boiler in this place is powerful and the radiators heated the house up super-fast, which was a pleasant surprise.
I decided to pick up my crochet-hook and dabble a little, yesterday afternoon. I used to do loads of knitting and crocheting before the kids arrived and it seems like a good way to keep my hands off a glass of wine-lol. Productive, therapeutic and sobriety-maintaining, all at the same time.
I have ripped back the little square lots of times-good that I can see the mistakes. There's a major one in the square, at present but I think that I will leave it and just keep going. Ali asked me what I was making and had a good laugh when I replied 'a blanket'. It was prior to the heating going on.
My Once Upon a Time addiction continues but, if my crochet continues, I'll at least be productive as I watch-lol.
Okay folks. I'm going to sign off. Time's a marching and I've yet to meditate before we head out. The sky is a clear beautiful blue and the sun is shining but I suspect that it's flippin' freezin' out there. I can't quite see my breath but the thermometer is heading down to where it ended up yesterday....just before we switched the heating on. Brrr.
Lots of love......thanks for stopping by to read this,
Lxxx
