Day 68......Ali started her new job.
3 Girls and 4 Suitcases.
I will be spending days from 8.20-6.10 pm by myself-YIKES. That's a lt of time, right?
Yesterday was a wee bit shorter because Andrew appeared around 5.30 for dinner and a lovely catch-up. Unfortunately, he's just over his sore back and now he's getting a cold. I really need to work on that boys immune system....Mmm.
Yesterday morning, up at Ross' was lovely....as expected. He's a really lovely man who is made happy by some simple conversation and a wee bit tlc. I am really enjoying my time with him and wish that we had longer because there is so much that I'd fill his day with. But for now, I look forward to my visit with him next Monday morning.
Alisons new job in a daycare, 4-6pm on weekdays requires that she have a police check and so I trotted to Police HQ to hand in her form to discover that she had to pay $50 for the privilege. It would be good if they would state that on the form because they don't accept cash, cheque, credit or debit so I had to go buy a money order from the post office which cost me $7. The Police and the Post office must have a 'deal' going because the only other way to pay was a bank draft which would also have cost money (didn't check how much)
It's like the police-check of old, in Scotland where you need one for each employment that requires it. Hopefully, if she takes on extra work, they'll just allow her to show this one.
I spent a wee bit time downtown, before heading home to give Ali the receipt, to take into work at 4pm. The stores are beginning to get Christmassed-up and it'll be no time till I'm thinking that St Nic's arrival is imminent......and it won't be.
I treated myself to some steaming home-made soup for a late lunch at 3.15 in front of the last season 1 episode of Once Upon a Time......I have stepped over the line to daytime tv-EEK.
I received some great advice, from a lovely friend, re my desire to write for magazines and so I will get cracking with a wee bit of follow-through on it, this week. With Alison being gone longer, I plan to use the extra couple of hours on 'work' of some sort. Maybe the screenplay but maybe another wee project.....watch this space.
Last nights sleep was probably my worst EVER but I still managed to not get grumpy about it. I love the word 'curious' and that's what I try to be, when situations are not quite as I'd like them to be. There was probably a part of me that was keeping an ear open for Ali getting up at 4.15 to try to buy Taylor Swift tickets. I heard her conversation with her sister discussing possible options (I couldn't hear the words but have since learned this) and I also knew that she was going into school for 8.05 for a friend to help her with Maths and wanted to make sure she got up.....which she didn't do at her planned time and ended up having to take the bus yet again. I have told her that, in the future, I am not paying for bus tickets when the reason for the bus is that she's late. Another 'watch this space'-lol. And, we have to repeat the process on Friday morning because she didn't get tickets in the pre-sale, this morning. She's gonna be a tired girlie by Saturday. I put some Olive in her school water-bottle which will help.
Okay, so I have to go meditate before I head out to the library. I am doing the Oprah and Deepak 21 day challenge (get signed up) but I want to also keep up with my mindfulness usual meditation so I ought to be well-meditated (hopefully not medicated) in 20 days time.
Love to all,
Lxxx
